Duane: I do not have the name of the show but am trying to get it. Wouldn't think there would be to many shows of this size going on at the same time.

Really think this is an important gathering for APAT. I do understand they will be showing their WDM technology and I also understand it is pretty impressive.

Looking over the latest SEC filings, I noticed that Dr. Anil Jain noted APAT had legal expenses last quarter defending patents. Would really like to know what that was about. With Aberdeen up and running and, hopefully, a few sales of UV Detectors to get the cash flow going
maybe They will make the transition from R@D smoothly.

I also noticed that I could not connect to their web page. I hope it is because they are updating the information. This could get interesting if all goes well in San Jose.

Jim

<< I was expecting to see APAT take a hit after learning that Cienna is having orders cut back by both LU and the "Big T" >>

A small correction Duane. T couldn't have slowed orders from CIEN becuase they are technically not a customer yet! They are still testing and evaluating CIEN's products and they are dinking around. They may have signed a contract, but there is no minimum orders guranteed. I am unaware of CIEN WDM products deployed in T's network. (Correct me if I'm wrong).

<< That action IMHO, would somewhat reduce the future outlook for all associated, if there actually is a decreasing need for WDM >>

There isn't a decrease in general for WDM. WCOM merely said that Ciena supplied so much bandwith so quickly that they are set for the time being. We will see how long that lasts. CIEN is getting punished for delivering too much bandwith on time! If they had deployed WDM more slowly they might have grown a little slower but more evenly. Remember Cascade Communications had a little bump in their orders and the market punished them hard. Now Cascade is the only thing keeping A$ND afloat. A$ND is making numbers and signing big contracts again because of the Cascade side of the business.

CIEN will broaden their customer base. They have already gone from just a couple customers to half a dozen. Their short-haul WDM products will be geared to smaller companies (like baby bells) and other metro-WDM applications. This will expand their customer base to the double digits and smooth out their revenues.

CIEN is a flat out buy for the long-term if you ask me. Although CIEN's stock price will probably still be bouncing around in the low 40's in 5 years...
