Benny, I don't know if you have seen any of this series, but you might want to check out the first episode given where you live.

Brink of Disaster

Brink of Disaster is a 3-part documentary series from a few years ago. You’ll get the idea from the episode titles: New York Suprtstorm; West Coast Superquakes; and Miami Sinking. Each one spends a little over an hour examining its topic, with decidedly mixed results.

The episodes do deliver useful info and interesting interviews with scientists and engineers, but there are two main problems. Between the good stuff is voice-over reciting words that seemingly ripped straight out of tabloid headlines, far too often repeated, as are some of the video clips, particularly the one that is used whenever they mention a tsunami, which is obviously a clip of a very large wave that is not seismic in origin.

In fact, I already knew much of what was covered in this series, particularly in the second and third episodes. This is because I have read lengthy New Yorker articles on the West Coast earthquakes and the coming destruction of Miami which were much better written and contained much more information. I am sure the New Yorker has done articles on the New York storms, too, for obvious reasons. Start with those and then if you want to see some video and get a few more insights, move on to this series.
