Any war that is fought to an end where a negotiated settlement was gained by the aggressor, is a case of "appeasement"? Appeasement, generally speaking, refers to concessions made to avoid conflict. Just messing with you. "Appeasement" is a term that applies to concessions made to an aggressor to avoid a war. Once the war starts, we generally speak of a peace or settlement agreement. By your definition, the ending of the Vietnam war would be appeasement after we lost 53,246 soldiers in the fight. At this point, both sides in the Russo-Ukrainian war, are ready for it to end. If you want to speak of appeasement, perhaps you should be discussing the 2014 taking of Crimea. Clearly, that, more than any other thing, forms the impetus for the current war. Allowing Crimea to move to Russian control in 2014 was the original sin.
