Deryck, TRIN is ARMS SHORT TERM TRADING INDEX. It is advancing issues/declining issues divided by volume of advancing issues/volume of declining issues on the NYSE. It is a ratio where 1 is said to be even on the above formula. So below 1 would be considered on the bullish side and above 1 is considered bearish. It is a daily indicator and is only a tool that can be used. The s&p 500 futures direction seems to move the price direction of the OEX options. They seem to correlate quite close along with obviously the s&p 100 and DOW JONES direction.
