Thanks for the Asensio pointer. What a relief to find someone who isn't in bed with the companies he covers. I just checked out the Bally Fitness complaint center. Wow. It's only a matter of time before a class-action kicks in. The FTC's press release, "BALLY'S TO REFUND THOUSANDS OF MEMBERSHIP FEES AND PAY $120,000 IN CIVIL PENALTIES TO SETTLE FTC CHARGES" came out in 1994--has there been anything like this since? Another charming piece of news I found: BALLY TOTAL FITNESS PAYS $1.5 MILLION IN BACK WAGES May 29, 1996 CHICAGO (AP) - Bally Total Fitness Corp. voluntarily paid almost $1.5 million in back wages to 3,167 employees nationwide because of federal minimum-wage and overtime-pay violations, the U.S. Labor Department said Tuesday.... Screwing customers AND employees!
