CR,
Maybe Jason is related to the Andy (the CEO of NINE, not me <g>).

Jason,
STB is strong because it is a well managed company and has established relationship with both DELL and Gateway2000 or the best 2 mail order company which the two alone captures more than 10% worldwide PC market (that's almost 10M units) In addition, like ATI (ATY.to), it successfully anticipated and adjusted its product line to the market need. The majority of the market need a good 2D, very good 3D, mpeg playback and the PC2TV is welcome feature, plus a low cost TV Tuner and possibly a DVD solution. It is interesting to point out that ATY.to has experienced a similar situation two to three years ago when its Mach64 design is aged and fully replaced by S3's 968. At that time, it was traded as low as $9! Then the CEO is replaced, the company is restuctured and we have a successful company in a little more than 1 year. Now ATI is found in some Compaq, GW2k and it is one of the best selling card in retail.

PS: remember I removed ATI from my favorite list few weeks ago when it was in low 40s and now ATI is trading at mid 40s! I believe it will remain the best in the rest of FY98. The future prospect is very depend on the Intel strategy and how antitrust investigation by FTC.

Thanks for staying in touch, C.R.... This thread is counting on your insight into the apparent demise of this once promising company. You do not make any bones about it: you don't like or respect Andy. Your assessments appear valid and painful. However, he holds the stock - about 2 million shares of it. He was able to push Gil out who maybe you have more respect for. Whatever! This thread needs you to specifically spell out what you believe Nine should do if they are able to move ahead without the current management. Who should run the company..SPECIFICALLY?? What is your feeling about the better talent over their, if any. Bill Ralph? Romanies? What about the obvious talents of Phil Parker and his engineering corps?

C.R., you certainly do have an ax to grind, and it really is not any of our business to know why. But, it is obvious that at least with management, it's pretty personal. I respect your views and would like you to map out (even as devil's advocate) how this situation can be rectified at Nine. Most of us, on this thread, are LONG and VERY WRONG, at least over the last year and a half. Try your hand at suggesting a strategy which would RIGHT this apparent WRONG.

OH, and don't forget to tell Uncle Andy that supper is at six o'clock!!

Hey Charles, pardon me for not letting up on you. You have the right to respond or not respond. I was just looking back on your Feb. 21 post where you proclaimed to all that STB was the strength of this field. ARE you about to add up how much SHAREHOLDER EQUITY THEIR MANAGEMENT just "cost shareholders"...... Hey, Chuck maybe it's not management's fault. For the record, STB has dropped more than 15 points, while your "no axe to grind" #9 has SURVIVED and tripled in value. Can you imagine the money that would have been lost if anyone actually listened to you 10 weeks ago? I'm not saying that 9 is completely healthy YET. What I am saying is that for someone who comes off as an expert on Video Graphics ( an expert on 9 especially) it's understandable why you have avoided this thread lately. Good Luck with your future ideas on investing. No hard feelings....I just like to point out things emphatically, like you do.
