Yes, Trump was elected on a tidal wave of ignorance, which has always been the Achilles heel of democracy. But few of us realized the ignorance was this profound or pervasive, which is why we could not see Trump winning. We saw Trump lie day after day, and say horrible things, and do horrible things, for eight solid years and thought there is no way this guy can be elected! And yet here we are, and the next four years are going to be bleak and the suffering will be great. And very soon even low information voters will have regrets as they see all the things they took for granted taken away from them, like needed social programs and a stable economy, and freedom itself.
