its like everything else survivors are surprisingly few. Kodak and Xerox seemed to have crazy good moats. If i am not mistaken Xerox developed the notion for a personal computer but decided not to pursue it. that may have been one of the all time worst decisions. It just goes to show that no moat can be expected to last a life time which might argue against paying 40-50 time earnings for anything. Yesterday we returned our rental car to hertz and the shuttle driver to the airport told us he had been with hertz for 46 years. That was dominant industry leader but it too went bankrupt.

as an investor its good to be nimble and keep an eye out for the exit door,
