I've also seen cases where images appear broken in some browsers when using the WEBP format.

If they aren't converted to a different format like JPG/JPEG, TIF/TIFF, or PNG before uploading, some browsers see only the broken graphic icon.

Many don't know they need to convert or don't care since it's time consuming to convert them first unless it's a scripted action –– another thing average computer users have no idea how to do, create the scripts or automation for those actions.
