Wharfie, I didn't feel a thing. All I got was a loud, shrill alert from my iPhone warning me about an incoming tsunami.

Here's the actual text of the warning:

Emergency Alert
The National Weather Service has issued a TSUNAMI WARNING. A series of powerful waves and strong currents may impact coasts near you. You are in danger. Get away from coastal waters. Move to high ground or inland now. Keep away from the coast until local officials say it is safe to return.

(I added the emphasis on the "You are in danger" part of the warning.)

Just to be sure, I kept looking toward the west expecting to see a 200 ft wave crashing down upon Silicon Valley ..
