* The Asian economic crisis will continue to hurt the
semiconductor equipment market through the first half of 1998, but
a mild rebound could be in store by mid-year, executives said at
the three day SEMInvest conference. "The Asian financial crisis
has created a situation where Asian manufacturers have paused,"
said Mitchell Tyson, President of PRI AUTOMATION INC. "Those
markets are slow for now and for the next two quarters, but then
should return to normal in the latter half of 1998." Kenneth Levy,
Chairman of KLA TENCOR CORP said he soon expects Japan to cut back
on capital investments when it sets spending levels for its next
