TBowl,

Trace had a primary supplier relationship to Samsung. I am not sure what interrupted it but as of 2 months ago they were virtually idled as I said. They built up extravagantly last year, including occupying a new 4 story building in Science Park in Taiwan. They may be supplying others, I do not know at this point. In 1997 Trace didn't even make the pie chart, falling into that category "other". The smallest market share that did make the pie chart was Akashic at 3%. The rest were:
Komag 16%
Seagate 23%
Mitsubishi 7%
Hoya 6%
HMT 6%
Showa Denko 10%
IBM 9%
Other 17%

If I were a short trader I would be short Read-Rite, APM, & Komag. And I already would have cashed 4 bucks on STMD.

best,
Stitch
