There's nothing good about Tariffs, Bub. They only serve to weaken domestic industries, as they don't have to compete with foreign ones. Also, it narrows the range of choices available to consumers. Finally, it causes inflation, as prices go up - both for goods subject to tariffs and others not subject to tariffs as domestic producers take advantage of higher prices for imports.

Raising trade barriers is never a good thing for an economy, because it assumes that central planning knows better than the free market.
