Augustus,
EV's - yes. BYD can have a negative impact on our EV industry and I'm not willing to give them the chance.
That's the thing. We're already cutting back production on EVs due to lower than expected demand. A huge part of that is the cost, which has been kept artificially high due to Brandon's tariffs.

I argue that we should allow BYD to sell their cheap ass EVs here in America. That can spur demand and help motivate all the supporting businesses such as charging stations, repair shops, smartphone apps, parts, etc.

Plus it's not clear to me that BYD will take over the entire market for EVs. Many people will shun the cheap EVs because of anxiety caused by range and safety. (No word yet on how often these cheap EVs spontaneously combust, for example.) Others may try them out.

Plus competition is always a healthy thing. It spurs our domestic manufacturers to continue innovating and focusing on what customers want, rather than what rich bureaucrats believe is "good for unions, good for jobs, and good for America."
