FC, think about it. If the GDP grows at the same rate as the federal debt, then the debt as a percentage of the GDP would remain constant.

But it's not. The GDP is growing by 2.8% this year, but the debt is growing by 5.1%.

That means the debt as a percentage of GDP is growing, which is a bad thing.
