Let me explain what I think the tariffs are about that the MAGA totally does not understand. IMO, if they did they would not have voted for him. He is going to cut taxes on the rich, by increasing taxes on the middle class through tariffs. This is his plan! The MAGA are defending Trumps tariffs saying he is being smart, being strategic, or just bargaining hard, but I don't think that is what is going on at all! This is a sly way to cut taxes on the rich by putting them on the middle class, AND why he lied about how pays!! Trump is looking at the tariffs for one primary reason--to bring in tax money so he can cut the taxes on the rich. That is why he is putting huge across the board tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China. They are our three largest trading partners--so it has nothing to do with leveling the playing field! That is why he is doing a huge broad brush across the board to our three largest trading partners, because that is where the big money is. This is NOT wild speculation, it is just a matter of connecting the dots. He has said what he intends to do if one connects the dots. In his first order of business is he planning on doing anything for the people? Lower any costs, make medical insurance better, more affordable education, etc? Of course not, he is planning on cutting another four trillion in tax cuts for the rich. And he will use the income from the tariffs as an off setting income tax---a tax that will be paid by the middle class, you and I. So he will raise prices of groceries and inflation and increase the debt--all things he said he would not do!
