Q: Anything you want to add in the technology area before touching base on the biotech
side?

A: If you divide the electronic side broadly between computing and communications,
generally the computing stocks are cheaper because of this fear Wall Street has had about
PC's. Both sides are growing this year and communications are growing even faster. We
are trying to find things to buy there. We have been looking at Ascend, Bay Networks,
PairGain Technologies and Cisco Systems. The communications business overall
worldwide is still growing at over 25% a year and was a $125 billion industry in 1997. It
is also expected to double over the next 3 years as the internet gets built out with
Worldwide WAN's (wide are networks) and we want to be there. It is hard to find stocks
in that area that are fairly priced. We bought a small semiconductor company called Seeq
Technologies Inc. that builds nothing but ethernet chips. They also have the first gigabit
ethernet chips out there so, it is around about way to play communications. We also bought
a small company called Sync Research and they are partnered with IBM. Both are really
small companies.
