Yeah - I wish they had shipped 5 Million "Q" phones prior to December!

I think the 1997 shipments of Q phones was probably around 200,000 - 300,000 units. I have a pre-December Q phone and have heard nothing, and have had no problem. I asked a question about quality issues at the display at the shareholders meeting, and the gentleman was unaware of any quality issues with the "Q" phone, except maybe the first couple of lots built which had to have their cases changed and hinge springs tightened.

I suspect the rumor on the Motley board stems from that old issue.

<<You don't recall 5 million handsets because a plastic case is the wrong color or something. Or even if the clip snaps too easily. Recalls would be for safety reasons to protect customers who might suffer damage from manufacturing or design defects.>>

Yes, that's a good point, Maurice. Also seems to tie in with the answer Michael got at the shareholders meeting display when he inquired about quality. That "rumor" seems to have died as quickly as it was born at Motley. As Michael noted, perhaps it was the "old rumor" bubbling up again. (Enjoyed your short comments, Maurice, at G* board about watching G* sats through your telescope. I'll bet that was great!)
