Bonefish,
Anyone who lived through the volcker years should have an idea .
When did Reagan impose tariffs and deport illegal immigrants by the thousands?

Reagan was famous for deregulation.

Reagan was also (in)famous for amnestia.

As for the Fed, do you expect Jerry to raise interest rates next year? Not a chance. He's still deciding whether to cut interest rates today despite inflation inching back up to the 3% range.

If we're going to live through the Volcker years again, it'll have to be after Trump when he leaves us with an even bigger mess.

Just for you, Bonefish, since you think we're going to see a repeat of Volcker:

Go figure. Trump didn't like Powell because of all the interest rate hikes that happened during his first term.

Imagine if Powell went all Volcker on Trump during his second term. Trump would go BALLISTIC.

So tell me. How does this jibe with you supposedly knowing how to ferret out inflation? Since you brought up Volcker, I figured you could give me some insight behind your views.

Or you can just chicken out and pretend that you don't have to answer just because Trump was able to fool most voters ...

One more post to you, Bonefish, since you seem to be a fan of the 80's:

"Ferris Bueller" scene explains why tariffs don't work (YouTube Shorts)

By the way, the actor in this clip is Ben Stein, who is actually an economist who worked in the White House under ... anyone, anyone ... Nixon ...
