They share the fundamental ideas of right and wrong vs. legal or not, as well as starting and ending results. And in the case of looking back a couple hundred years, hard decisions are found where the legal and moral aspects definitely cross. So, one can interested in one vs. the other but going back centuries, the separation of the two is practically impossible.
