PK <OT> I have been pondering this for some time.... First of all, Iridium is a piece of space junk....It uses an inferior technology, TDMA, to broadcast its signal....TDMA requires sole use of certain amounts of spectrum.....CDMA on the other hand can allow re-use of the frequency spectrum which, in turn, increases the capacity.....GSTRF, Globalstar, IMHO utilizes a better means of satellite technology....It utilizes landline stuff when it is in place....When a base station isn't around it uses Terrestrial means.(Ie. goes to the satellite).... Studies are still being done with regards to use of air space and its effects on humans....Ie. If we keep growing the amount of data being sent through the air are we going to start developing tumors, diseases, etc.....Could it overlay sensors in the human body? This is a very REAL question as it affects the buildout of our infrastructure, rates charged for services, business capabilities, etc.....I believe that this is a possibility.....A VERY far out question but nonetheless, it should be considered .... What I am hoping for is the following.....Something like MCI....7 or so holding companies being sold the public via junk bonds......These firms would install FIBER TO THE HOME......These firms could then be merged into 1 firm that would be able to offer thousands of services via fiber........the applications would be limitless..... I am looking into the actual financials of such a venture....So far it appears VERY expensive...... Dan Ross
