Had a meeting with a director of the Japanese office of a major US semiconductor manufacturer (sales meeting, no direct relation to Y2K).

Asked about Y2K briefly. He says for operations systems they have 200 people in-house, and that they will either put in new systems, or modify their old ones by themselves. Working closely with some major software houses. Seems confident here. No plans to license tools from tool vendors.

Embedded on the factory floor?
"Hmm, that's probably where we'll get hit hardest. Some of the machines with date-related programming might run into trouble...."

Claims to be doing it all in house, but does not appear to have a handle on the situation at all.....

FWIW

Yep, what year did Chase start, TM. 95, 96? Major semi
company started looking at problem last summer, putting
together a group to investigate. Major insurance company back east just got together their group in the fall. I could go on and on.......

There are going to be more and more stories. The majority
of the code still has has not been converted. IMRS posted 27 million in revs this quarter. IMRS is repositioning and will be doing less year 2k work for their own reasons. My hunch is they have the business they want to take on. This is q1 98. Lets go to Keane. Should be interesting to watch them grind through at least 450 contracts that they have done assessment work for.

This is the type of company I usually invest in :)

cai.com

What's your take on the CA\CSC deal? I have to believe that this is somehow Y2K related. CA wants as much business in this area as it can get, and paying 9 bil must be worth it to them.

Hey TokyoMex, where you been. I haven't seen a post from you in a few days. To all. As far as speculating on TAVA's future revenues. If that last post on the electric utilities is near the truth all our excitement and desires will be irrelevant!

It won't matter anymore. None of this will. No power, no anything!!
