We allow way too many foreign students in our colleges and universities. I agree. The problem starts before the work visa stage. It starts with the student visas. If Americans get pushed out of the specialized educational programs that are in such high demand due to foreign competition (or DEI), then when corporations say they need to hire foreign specialists, they may be right, short term. What the corporations won't say is that they prefer to do so in many cases, and will pay less and demand more because they can get away with it. This exacerbates the problem at the next level for the Americans who got through the competition and would like a stable, rewarding career, and follows into the culture and becomes a generational choice to avoid these types of jobs. It's been suggested that a federal levy, like a tariff, be put on corporations in the US employing workers with work visas - charged by the head. If you want less of something, throw a tariff or tax on it. It might help. Less student visas? Don't reward the universities with the tariff proceeds or it'll have the opposite effect.
