The board's chairman is appointed by the president of Panama and holds the rank of minister of state for Canal affairs. Administrator The administrator is the highest-ranking executive officer of the ACP and is responsible for implementing the board's decisions. The administrator is appointed for a seven-year term and may be re-elected. As of July 2024, Ricaurte Vásquez Morales is the administrator of the Panama Canal. The ACP is an independent agency of the Government of Panama that manages, operates, and maintains the Panama Canal.
