"UK North Sea fish stocks, indeed all the UK coastal waters, can support a food chain that can produce millions of tonnes of fish a year and still grow overall. If the marine environment was allowed to develop correctly. Sadly no such national control (unlike Iceland) is in place, it's over fished and the place is now a marine equivalent of the Sahara Desert. 20 years is not a big deal really in getting an economy or fish stocks back on track."

Same thing in Canada and internally in N. America freshwater stocks are being invaded and replaced by Asian Carp.
