"Respect for the office" is a sorry excuse, but FatRump will abuse the ill gotten power he now has. I understand why he wouldn't punish him for the crimes he committed. He could be just "disappeared" and trump wouldn't be held accountable.

The sentence means Trump will not face jail time, probation, or a fine. How much money did New York and the rest of us pay to get NO PENALTY, NO JAIL, NO FINE, NO PROBATION AND NO COMMUNITY SERVICE? All we got was a pocket judge now sporting a huge stain on his pant's crotch area and a shit-eating grin. Not too surprising since that's what all the real thieves', rapists and most murderers get in NYC from the limp wristed AG and judges.
