PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Montreal, September 19, 1997 ACQUISITION OF SHARES OF ZAPPA RESOURCES LTD. Cambior Inc. ("Cambior") announces that, on September 17, 1997, it purchased 3,600,000 common shares of Zappa Resources Ltd. ("Zappa") by means of a private placement. As a result of this transaction, Cambior is the beneficial owner of 6,399,200 common shares of Zappa representing approximately 27% of Zappa's outstanding common shares, and still holds a share purchase warrant with respect to 1,816,184 common shares of Zappa. This acquisition of shares in Zappa by Cambior has been made for investment purposes. Cambior may in the future increase its beneficial ownership of, control or direction over, any securities of Zappa by acquisition of shares upon i) an exercise of its share purchase warrant; ii) a private placement; iii) a stock market trade; and/or iv) in any other manner.
