Re <<By one estimate, every F-35 Lightning II fighter jet has around 920 pounds of rare earth elements built into its engines and electronics.>>

… yeup, but not if all one intends to do is to park the F-35 paperweights on the factory lawn and not delivering to anyone, domestic and foreign.

The guesstimate is that Team China 6th Gen, the lambda-wing hummingbird J-50 near-space fighter / anti-aircraft carrier bomber is 14-20% cheaper than Team USA 5th Gen F-35. If so a giggle. I am guessing J-50, with the 4 engines, is about 50% of the F-35 cost, cheaper by the brigades. Just an experiential guess.

So cool once ‘teleporting’ in formation
