These are excellent points - clearly ones that are far beyond Kurlak's ability to fathom.

Don't forget the other software developers - the "garage shop" types. Thousands of these are slaving away developing new applications that will tax any and all horsepower that Intel CPU's can provide.

Some will succeed, and some won't. But cumulatively, they will push the demand for processor speeds.

One item that nearly everyone ignores, however, is multitasking. I generally never work on one application at a time - I always have 2, 3 or more applications going - even Windows 95 is OK for this - and that really pushes CPU capability.

One dimensional types fail to see this and conclude that a 15 year old 80286 is "all I Ever need to run Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing".
