I'm sure NATO would welcome Russia at such time as Russia meets the behavior commitments like democracy and rule of law and especially playing nice and not encroaching on anyone else's turf.

So, now, Hungary is a Democracy? Poland and Turkey, too?

NATO is workable only because the members have joint interests, and those interests historically have been getting the US to defend them from Russia. Unless those interests change, Russia is outcast permanently.

I'm not knocking NATO. I believe such organizations can contribute to world peace. But it is untenable to have the United States paying the bill into perpetuity when we simply have no money. Trump got them to start paying. So, everyone believes in NATO, but the rules have to be followed. And someone needs to be able to face off with the membership and make sure everyone understands the rules and abides by them or the organization soon becomes worthless as only three members value it enough in times of peace to voluntarily support the organization.

This is not KoanWorld. In real life people have to chip in if they want to have joint interests. You can't just say, "Oh, the US is going to take care of all the island nations by contributing $3 Billion to climate change, but no one else cares about the issue enough to put money in or even try to be compliant." It is just crazy to think like this.

We have a great team coming into the White House, smart, young people who carve out a future. The Koans of the world need to look see the Amazing job Fetterman is doing as a positive and get on board with trying to take the United States forward, rather than to just keep hating on ourselves.

I'm pretty sure they are going to struggle with the DEI requirement.

Damn. There goes world peace.
