I really dont know why STMD wouldn't be able to attract a buyer. In fact, I hear good things about their ability at very high performance media. But the expansion is all coming from Japan now. Showa denko, Fuji Electric, Fujitsu, and Hoya are the only ones that I know are very actively expanding. It may seem easier to them to "roll their own" then trying to acquire and operate a state side firm. They may be right IMO.
