Sudan signs dlrs 600 million pipeline deal
Feb 21, 98
KHARTOUM, Sudan (AP) -- Sudan has signed a dlrs 600 million agreement with four foreign companies to build a 1,600-kilometer (1,000-mile) pipeline that will carry its oil to a Red Sea port, the Sudanese news Agency reported Sunday.

Some 150,000 barrels of oil per day are expected to pass through the pipeline from the western Sudanese oil fields of Higlig to Bashair Port, near the Port Sudan on the Red Sea, the Sudan News Agency said.

The pipeline will be operational by June 1999.

China's CPECC oil company, as well as Argentina's Techint and Britain's Weir and Allan Diesel companies signed the deal with the Sudanese government on Saturday, SUNA said.
