FYI on customers other than Sprint and WCOM:

1. Cable & Wireless is expected to purchase $20MM of equipment from CIEN in 1998. (per Montgomery conference analysis).

2. Other Euro telcos likely will follow suit in terms of purchasing WDM equipment (per Monty analysis). This presents an opportunity for CIEN and the other WDM providers.

3. The Monty forecast for T sales is $140MM in 1998. Monty advises that that forecast "could be more than doubled" if Ciena wins the primary supplier position at T. In sum, and consistent with the 10Q which stated LU's new product did not pose a "material" impact vis-a-vis T, it seems that the likely revenue from T is being stated conservatively. It is the upside (a doubling of sales not included in 1998 revenue forecasts) that may be at risk.
