Tenchu's Thoughts: That Ceasefire Thingy ...

Is it a good thing? Is it a bad thing?

Hamas is claiming "victory." Iran is claiming "victory."

Brandon is claiming credit for the ceasefire.

Trump is claiming credit for the ceasefire.

The MAGA cultists on this thread seem split between the following two positions, both of which cannot be true at the same time:

- The ceasefire is a bad idea. Hamas survives and WILL attack again in the future.

- Trump is so feared by our enemies that Hamas felt compelled to accept a ceasefire.

As for Democrats, I'm not sure if there is any division in their ranks. I would suspect that both the pro-Israel side of the Democrats and the pro-Palestine side both think a ceasefire is good news.

What Does Tenchu Think?

I used to think that the ceasefire was a good idea, until I realized that Hamas will STILL be in charge of Gaza.

Right now, the only good thing I see coming out of this deal is the release of hostages. THAT, I believe, is worth the price of the ceasefire alone.

Will Hamas try and rebuild from the rubble of Gaza? Of course they will.

Will they reconstruct their tunnels, rearm, and rebuild their bunkers and ammunition depots underneath "schools" and "hospitals"? Of course they will.

Will they breed like rabbits and produce the next generation of terrorists? Of course they will.

But I believe that Hamas has already won the propaganda war. Their cowardly leaders (who are all multi-millionaires, by the way) continue to live in exile. And unfortunately they have a HUGE following across the world, especially here on American college campuses. (Yes, this IS 2025.)

There is no way Israel can win this propaganda war, at least not now, not while they're still turning Gaza into Bakhmut.

Hence I think it's prudent to halt the war now and take the opportunity to free the hostages when given the chance.

Long-term implications

Long term, Israel can redouble its efforts to protect against another October 7th attack. And Israel can continue to call out the U.N. every time they play into the hands of Hamas, such as UNRWA.

But the sad truth is that terrorism will never go away. The extremists will always hate our fukkin' guts. And we need to be constantly vigilant against it.

It doesn't mean we try and pursue "final solutions" like Rare Chickenhawk advocates. Such "solutions" will never be "final enough," if you get my drift.

But it does mean continuing to project real strength in a world where the so-called "rules-based world order" is teetering on collapse.

Most importantly, as JFK once said, we need to show conviction, not belligerence. If we are strong, our strength will speak for itself. If we are weak, words will be of no help.
