Budding Theoretical Physicists should make the "Ipcress File" their catechism. OK it does not, in itself, get them to start thinking innovatively, but it's a good jumping off point. Early in the Film you see a copy of the "New Scientist" being sported. That is all one needs to know to get started. If they made me Dean of Theoretical Physics at some University, the students would have to write essays on it, recite lines, and use quotations from it. Extra marks if used appropriately on exam questions.
