Interesting.... What is the deal? How many dollars do you have to spend to get a full year at the 19.95 rate? Is this offer available to unlimited rate subscribers? IMO if you are paying by the hour you may not be getting the best bang for your Credit Card dollar. Also remember that companies like MCI gives you $14.95 unlimited time service if you have them as your long distance carrier. So a low rate should be used for comparison purposes.

I am asking you this because in my case, since I travel quite a bit, AAdvantage credit card miles are the best deal for me (better than the discovery card). One dollar=1 mile. On 35,000 miles I can get a 45 day ticket to SA which retails for over $900 with only 35000 miles (that is a 2.6% return since $900 is 2.6% of 35000). Of course I also get synergies from MCI long distance miles and my own frequent travel miles. The botto, line: I get at least one free ticket to SA and one to Europe every year. So if they give you a full (unlimited use) year (a 440 value) for 440/.026=$17000 expenses using the card then you have an equivalent deal. Equivalently if they give you one month of free use for about $1400 in expenses then you are getting a similar deal.

PS: Some people [most?] think trying to save a few bucks is just a waste of time. To this I reply with a quote I heard from a relative told me a long time ago. $1,000,000 is composed of one million one dollar bills. take one away and you no longer have your million. Do you think rich people get rich by throwing money away? Look around and you will see that the ones that have the most are the ones that are the most carefull when it comes to spending
