Wharfie,
Says the guy who voted for Trump cuz of his support for Israel.
Yep. MAGA can't even settle on any consistent foreign policy position whatsoever.

First, it was "no new wars."

Then it was "bomb the shit out of Gaza."

Rare Chickenhawk even proposed a "special military operation" against Iran.

Then it was Trumperialism. "We fuckin' built the canal, and we're taking it back!"

Now it's once again isolationism?

These idiots have no clue what it takes for America to be world leaders.

No wonder the entire world is transitioning toward a post-America future.

Tenchu's Thoughts: That Ceasefire Thingy - Was it Trump's Doing, and Why?

Trump’s role in Gaza ceasefire fuels Arab American anger with Biden (Al Jazeera)

Trump, of course, is taking credit for the ceasefire, which is a bit odd given how hawkish he is toward Iran and any of its proxy terrorist groups.

Not to mention that Trump pretty much upset the useful MAGA idiots on this thread. Rare Chickenhawk has now done an about-face on his Trump support, while the others, after initially criticizing the deal, became noticeably silent after their Dear Leader took credit.

I have three questions, though.

Question #1: How much credit should Trump be given?

The article only mentions the following specifics:

*******

But several Israeli media reports have indicated that Trump was decisive in getting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to the pact, which will lead to the release of Israeli captives in Gaza as well as hundreds of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.

Trump sent his envoy Steve Witkoff to meet with mediators in Qatar and Netanyahu in Israel last week.

On Thursday, the US president-elect appeared to confirm Israeli accounts that Witkoff pushed Netanyahu to accept the agreement.

He shared on social media a Times of Israel article quoting an unidentified Arab official as saying: “Trump envoy swayed Netanyahu more in one meeting than Biden did all year.”

Notably, Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani thanked Witkoff by name when announcing the deal on Wednesday.

*******

Now I can believe that Trump convinced Net-N-Yahoo that, despite Trump's hawkishness, Net-N-Yahoo isn't going to gain anything by continuing the war, not even under Trump 2.0.

But that leads to ...

Question #2: Why now?

And why not six months ago, when Brandon first pushed for the ceasefire deal?

Maybe Net-N-Yahoo believes in the power of Trump's awesomeness, because as we all know, eVeRyOnE fEaRs tRuMp, especially Hamas.

Maybe Net-N-Yahoo feels secure in taking the deal even if it doesn't satisfy the bloodlust of hard-liners like Rare Chickenhawk. He probably didn't feel secure taking the deal under Brandon given that Brandon may not have been all that reliable of an ally.

Or maybe Net-N-Yahoo is now in a very precarious position among Israelis, who may be getting tired of the war.

Question #3: How does Trump benefit?

Either way, I don't see how the ceasefire helps Trump, given that he hates Iran and would like nothing better than for Iran and its proxies to fail. After all, every ceasefire has been used as an opportunity for the terrorists to rearm, reconstitute, and regroup for the next attack. Like I said, even the Trump supporters on this thread recognize that.

But Trump never thinks about the long-term. Nope, everyone calls him "transactional."

That means Trump wants something in return.

Maybe the Nobel Peace Prize?

Maybe a card to play so that he can better negotiate a peace deal between RuZZia and Ukraine?

Or maybe he just wants yet another excuse to brag on Tr00th Social.

Peace At A Bargain

Either way, I still think the ceasefire is a good thing. There is finally a diplomatic path toward the freeing of the hostages. There is finally a diplomatic path toward the end of the war and the end of the killing.

And quite frankly, I think the war in Gaza has lasted long enough.

Moreover, this ceasefire deal is coming at a bargain for both sides. All Hamas has to do is release the hostages. All Israel has to do is stop bombing shit.

Brandon can take credit. Trump can take credit. Doesn't matter that much to me, as long as we inch back toward peace and stability.

Then we can focus on what truly matters, like the price of eggs^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Htaking over Greenland and Panama.
