Musk is trying to "Americanise" Western European politics by playing the US political money based influence game. I think he is misjudging the size of his audience and his ability to game the game. The vast majority of Western Europeans do know their history and what results it produced. The attempt to rewrite history won't work regardless how hard Musk and friends try. Yes, the extreme right is immensely vocal. It catches headlines but it doesn't catch the majority of votes.
