Anyone, I notice that Quantum's DLTs are selling well...two questions: Is Quantum the leader in DLT sales? Finally, could anyone see Quantum buying a smaller player like ADIC for synergies with respect to the DLT portion of their business...thanks in advance and sorry if this has been discussed in the past...

Todd,

<<I think SEG has kindof proved that the technique has worked well with the success of their media ops, and complete flop of the heads side.>>

Interestingly Seagate's home grown media operation was never a success. They had to buy Conner before they had media ops worth a darn. At that time their heads ops looked unstoppable. It shows the danger of heads and media ops, that it is a extremely high cap, process business (as Lawrence wisely underscores) and you can loose the recipe pretty easily. But alas, heads and media are sine qua non.

You mention PR for the Komag/Seagate deal. I havent seen that. Do you have a link?

<<A perfect example of how NOT to play the game is QNTM's terrible decision to enter into the MKQC heads op!>>

This a reference I didn't understand. Where did you get the 15%?

Best,
Stitch
