Message 35291472 Reply to Gib Bogle: You seem to confuse “disagreeing with experts” with “being stupid.” That’s the oldest trick of the self-anointed intellectual class, equating credentials with wisdom and obedience with intelligence. Democracy doesn’t require citizens to defer to elites; it requires elites to convince citizens. When experts start demanding submission instead of making arguments, they cease to be scientists and become priests in lab coats. If ordinary people no longer trust “experts,” perhaps the problem isn’t the people, it’s the track record of those who’ve mistaken their own groupthink for truth.
