"George- What would the features that they take out of the 8 post switch to make it so cheap.
Anything that effects the performance?"

Hard for me to figure out. Looking at both the Silkworm and MKII web pages, it would appear that as hardware costs decline, the price per port on both would also decrease. They use different system processors (25 MHz Intel i960JF for the Silkworm and 40 MHz Intel i960HA for the MKII). I have no idea about how this affects cost or performance. Interestingly the Silkworm is described as scaling in 2 port increments from a minimum of two ports and the MKII decsription of management software talks about it scaling from 8 to 3000 ports.

Ed,

I know that Cal mentioned in the conference call that the Gigalabs Jigsaw switch would be for those that may have painted themselves into the corner with SCSI(?). Maybe that's where you heard it.

Also, I wonder if there will be any more insider purchases in the next couple of weeks. Nobody asked about it in the cc, but if things are shaping up for a second half ramp, anything's possible with Ken and company.
