Discussing the value of SI - From an email + my response:

Is there a thread on SI that talks about real trading technique? Though yours, ken wolf's and steve g's are informative, the bulk of the posters focus on remote systems, crap stocks, techniques very risky to anyone without small positions and soes.

I understand what you are saying. I think the problem is that:

1) There are very few SERIOUS traders on SI. When I say serious I mean traders who are spending their full waking hours trying to develop/optimize their own trading system.

2) Every trader has a DIFFERENT trading system/style. If you are lucky enough to find one or more traders who has the same system/style as you on SI you are doing well.

3) If you do find traders with the same system/style they would have to be of equal or better in skill to you for the relationship to be benefical.

The bottom line is that SI is a good place to find information up to a point. If you want to glean further indepth ideas on trading technique you should start a thread with that idea in mind. The result will be that you will draw like minded individuals to your thread. Only then will you find out if there are any traders that are worth networking with on SI
