In his defense, Mark uses many indicators.
No need to defend Mark....his picks speak for him...they speak very highly I might add. <G>. I'm afraid you misunderstood my response. Mark and I go way back in our sharing of TA. I just don't frequent this thread much anymore.

Dr. Alexander Elder in his book titled "Trading for a Living" have an entire chapter on ADX and how to use it for day trader and short term trader.

...as far as Elder is concerned....he has a small section on directional movement (pgs 136-141) of which about 20% discusses ADX....hardly a whole chapter. He covers over 50 other trading indicators and systems to the same degree.

I am happy ADX works for some traders. For me I have done OK without it, and while I look at it sometimes, I don't base trading decisions on it. As mentioned before, volume is the most important thing I look at. I like to look at moving averages also. Understanding support and resistance on charts is critical to being a good trader imo.
