I don't support the govt subsidizing chip companies. Not only is it an affront to taxpayers, but poorly run companies, like Intel, will just piss it away.
I completely and 100% agree.

I just didn't say much because I believed Pat Gelsinger at the time could have successfully transitioned Intel to become the next Lockheed Martin.

The chances of Pat succeeding weren't 100%, of course, but IF Intel were to recover, he would be the guy to do it.

Now that Pat is gone, I don't see any other path for Intel to follow besides spinning off the fabs, which I believe the Intel BOD wants to do.

Perhaps Elon Musk will want to buy those fabs. He can probably get them for not much more than he paid for Twitter.

(Not that I think the Muskperger will actually save Intel, though. He's probably worse than AMD founder W. Jeremiah Sanders ...)
