Eric, I'm hoping that somehow this is just another "hard-nosed negotiating tactic" by the "transactional" Trump. Meaning that once he convinces TSMC to build another domestic fab, he'll either back off on the tariff threat, or he'll give TSMC an exception.

But even if he exempts TSMC, other chips like those manufactured by Samsung and Toshiba will still be affected. What are they supposed to do, move their fabs to America as well?

Maybe one of the so-called "tech bros" can convince Trump that these tariffs are a bad idea. Maybe Sam Altman, Peter Thiel, Zuck, or even the Muskperger himself.
