Bonefish, it doesn't matter. Trump is imposing tariffs not just on chips from Taiwan, but ALL chips from foreign sources.

He's not going to lift those tariffs if Taiwan lifts tariffs off of goods flowing in from the US, or else Trump would have mentioned those oh-so-crushing-and-unfair tariffs as a reason for his dumbass moves.

Instead, Trump's primary goal is to reshore semiconductor manufacturing.

Which in itself is a noble goal. Andy Grove himself thought so as well back around 2009-ish.

But this is NOT the way to do it.

Now I'll wait while you resort to your usual gaslighting and tell me that "I worry too much," because the truth is that Silicon Valley depends heavily on chips made in Taiwan.
