"I'm about to give it up and joint the MSFT/WINTEL camp. Nothing can survive against monopoly."

This is not why WINTEL is winning market share. WINTEL is gaining market share in the server and workstation market where they do not currently dominate because they have the best high volume low cost business model. SUN's workstations were always expensive. They have no track record of delivering low cost products at high volume. And yet they apparently believe they can compete at the low end.

It's very difficult to compete from a high cost low volume business model against a competitor who is moving up from a low cost high volume model.

In addition their CEO is on the warpath against Wintel and because of this he may be blinded to market realities.

McNealy may be willing to fall on his sword but investors are'nt that brave.
