Trump's Antisemitism Executive Order Worries Progressive Jewish Groups, Delights Others
Progressive Jewish organizations vow to fight the 'repressive' order, while others welcome Trump's 'historic commitment to protecting the Jewish community'

New Jewish Narrative President and CEO Hadar Susskind said "This order isn't about protecting American Jews, it's about demonizing pro-Palestine speech. Despite claims to be our 'protector' Donald Trump and his administration have repeatedly given cover for those sympathetic to Nazi ideologies. This Executive Order rings hollow and we will not allow our identity to be used as a fig leaf for this administration's repressive and Islamophobic agenda."

Amy Spitalnick, CEO of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs also condemned the order. "History has made clear that our safety as Jews is inextricably linked with inclusive, pluralistic democracy. A focus on countering antisemitism on campus and beyond is welcome. Undermining inclusive democracy in the name of countering antisemitism only makes Jews - and so many others - less safe."

Jonathan Jacoby, National Director of the Nexus Project, an organization focused on addressing antisemitism while opposing its misuse to silence Israel criticism said the order "cynically weaponizes legitimate concerns about Jewish safety to suppress constitutionally protected speech and threaten vulnerable student populations."

Bend the Arc: Jewish Action CEO Jamie Beran criticized the order for stifling Jewish self-expression. "The order also promotes the false premise that Jews and Israel are one entity. This idea reinforces the antisemitic 'dual-loyalty' trope. Jews feel many ways about Israel and Palestine, and the protests on college campuses have included and continue to include many Jewish participants."
