Just a thought, since I pay for electricity and water each month:

Light bulb, toilet, dishwasher, washing machine manufacturers realize that making their products as water- and energy-efficient as they can is a selling point. That's because their customers have to pay electric and water bills, and the less they pay for those the more they'll have to spend on buying light bulbs, toilets, dishwashers washing machines

So I doubt they'll be in a rush to spend millions retooling their factories to produce things nobody wants because the man behind the Resolute Desk can't grasp the concept of people actually paying their bills.

I only hope that if they ever start demanding energy-efficient SPD glass, he never hears about it.
