<<peter has great hands...for starters>> What else would you expect from a great artist? And yes-I wondered what else great Peter has...but my new elevated status of crone demands a dignified demeanor and I wasn't going to ask or even smirk suggestively. Holly assures me that it was all just a terrible nightmare, we are all still 29 and capable of great feats of party endurance. But the empty container of Ovaltine on the counter makes me wonder. Cocoon! Yes! I loved that movie. And also the Spielberg segment of Twilight Zone, the Movie . After working with the elderly, I believe that they exist in a completely different dimension. We spend our early years in the material world, raising families, promoting careers, accumulating. In our middle years we re-evaluate-become more introspective, spiritual, begin to shed some of the outside trappings in a search for more meaning, more oneness with self rather than the external world. The elderly have achieved separation from much of what governs us and have a perspective that we lack. Listening to them can be almost magical, but you have to get beyond judging them by the food spilled down their shirts or the inadequate bladder control. We no longer revere or even respect the elderly as older (wiser?) cultures did. We view the elderly as a burden in our society and we hide them away. What a loss for them and for us. What will guide us into old age if we have no models and pay no attention? Despite our best efforts, we will get old and die. Although I don't plan to for quite some time..and I hear Oil of Olay has a great new face masque...
